Concept
The ultimate idea is to create a thalasophobic hellhole where the player is on edge the entire time.
The environment will be dark with limited vision range, hostile mobs able to appear at any moment. Outposts will
be safe zones that will allow the player to finally relax.
This being a penal colony (working concept) the appearance will be retro-futurist (thanks kenyon) where a clearly much
more advanced society is tossing old barely functioning scraps at the colony. The vibe of outposts and even the sub will
be rust stains on the walls, patched paint, and exposed pipes and wires.
- 2km x 2km area (?)
- need to balance ease of getting around without making things feel crowded
- use procedurally generated roof and floor and walls
- make various environmental decorations that can be filled in (pillars, giant rocks, etc)
- cut smaller player sized holes into walls that can be explored by players
- these should be simple->complex systems filled with resources for harvesting
- how?
- add outposts randomly
- only a docking port visible from the main level area?
- add entire outpost?
- rock texture for walls, roof and floor
